چکیده
The work presents results of the characterization of dust collected in ASDEX Upgrade, with the special emphasis on size, morphology, structure and composition of the dust particles. The dust particles were collected after 2009 campaign using the filtered vacuum technique. The structure and composition of the particles were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) combined with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), focused ion beam (FIB) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) with special interest on the tungsten

Video tracking and post - mortem analysis of dust particles from all tungsten ASDEX - Upgrade
2D dust particle trajectories are extracted from fast framing camera videos of ASDEXUpgrade (AUG) by a new timeand resource-efficient code and classified into stationary hot spots, single-frame events and real dust particle fly-bys. Using hybrid global and local intensity thresholding and linear trajectory extrapolation individual particles could be tracked up to 80 ms. Even under challenging c...
متن کامل[Proceeding] Analysis of the ASDEX Upgrade 3-strap antenna with TOPICA code: Curved vs. flat 3D geometry
Before the 2015/2016 experimental campaign, the ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) 2-strap ICRF antennas with tungsten-coated limiters were replaced by 3-strap antennas. The main goal of the 3-strap launcher was to reduce the release of tungsten (W) in order to improve the ICRF operation, which appeared to be troublesome after the all-W wall installation [1]. In this paper, we analyse the behaviour of the 3-s...
متن کاملPedestal and ELM characteristics with different first wall materials and nitrogen seeding in ASDEX Upgrade
A comparison of ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) discharges performed with carbon and the full tungsten wall shows that the pedestal performance at low triangularity is not altered without gas puffing. The pedestal electron pressure is the same for both wall materials as is the confinement. With the tungsten wall the natural density is higher even without an additional gas puff. In typical operation with ga...
متن کاملConfinement enhancement in ASDEX Upgrade improved H-mode discharges with nitrogen seeding
1 Introduction Tungsten has been studied for 10 years on ASDEX Upgrade as a possible first wall material for fusion reactors [1]. The feasibility and the performance of the advanced scenarios are assessed, in order to deal with the technological challenges of a burning plasma. In particular hybrid scenarios, such as ASDEX Upgrade's improved H-mode discharges, require high heating power, a chall...
متن کاملDynamic and static deuterium inventory in ASDEX Upgrade with tungsten first wall
Deuterium retention in the divertor tokamak ASDEX Upgrade is studied by surface analysis and gas balances. Comparing C and W plasma facing components, the deuterium content of deposits at the divertor plates is dropped by a factor of 13. At the outer divertor significant implantation into the W coating is found. Deposition at remote areas is reduced by a factor of 14. Gas balances for ITER rele...
